Albuterol is an inhaled bronchodilator used to help relieve symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing, and chest tightness associated with asthma.

What it does

Albuterol works by relaxing muscles around the airways, helping them open so breathing can become easier.

When it may be used

A licensed clinician may prescribe Albuterol for quick relief of asthma-related breathing symptoms based on an individual medical evaluation.

How to use

Inhale 1–2 puffs every 4–6 hours as needed for asthma.

Use only as directed by your prescribing clinician.

What to know

Albuterol helps control breathing symptoms but does not cure asthma.

If symptoms worsen, the medication no longer provides adequate relief, or it is needed more often than directed, contact a healthcare professional.
