Back to Hydroquinone, Tretinoin, Niacinamide, HydrocortisoneCommon:
• Dryness, peeling, or flaking
• Redness or mild irritation
• Burning or stinging at the application site
• Increased sensitivity to sunlight
Important Risks:
• Hydroquinone can rarely cause paradoxical darkening of the skin (exogenous ochronosis), particularly with prolonged or inappropriate use
• Tretinoin can cause significant irritation, especially when treatment is started or when combined with other irritating skincare products
• Hydrocortisone is a topical corticosteroid; prolonged or excessive use may cause skin thinning and other local steroid effects
• Severe irritation, swelling, blistering, or an allergic reaction requires medical evaluation
Precautions:
• For external use only
• Avoid contact with eyes, lips, mouth, and other mucous membranes
• Apply only to the areas directed by your clinician
• Use daily broad-spectrum sunscreen and minimize unnecessary sun exposure
• Avoid adding exfoliants, scrubs, retinoids, or other irritating products unless approved by your clinician
• Tell your clinician if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding before using this medication
• Use only for the duration and frequency directed by your clinician
• Apply a thin layer to the affected areas once a day as directed
• Wash hands before and after application
• Avoid the eyes, lips, corners of the nose, and broken or irritated skin
• Mild dryness, peeling, or irritation may occur when treatment is first started
• Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer as recommended by your clinician
• Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning because sun exposure can worsen pigmentation and Tretinoin can increase sun sensitivity
• Improvement in discoloration is gradual and consistent use is important
• Contact your clinician for severe irritation, unexpected skin darkening, or other concerning reactions
